چکیده

The Model Evolution (ME) Calculus is a proper lifting to first-order logic of the DPLL procedure, a backtracking search procedure for propositional satisfiability. Like DPLL, the ME calculus is based on the idea of incrementally building a model of the input formula by alternating constraint propagation steps with nondeterministic decision steps. One of the major conceptual improvements over basic DPLL is lemma learning, a mechanism for generating new formulae that prevent later in the search combinations of decision steps guaranteed to lead to failure. We introduce three lemma generation methods for ME proof procedures, with various degrees of power, effectiveness in reducing search, and computational overhead. Even if formally correct, each of these methods presents complications that do not exist at the propositional level but need to be addressed for learning to be effective in practice for ME. We discuss some of these issues and present initial experimental results on the performance of an implementation within Darwin of the three learning procedures.

A Nonlinear Creep-damage Constitutive Model of Mudstone Based on the Fractional Calculus Theory

During the flood development in an oil field, the creep characteristic of mudstone is one of the important factors causing casing damage. In this study, based on the theory of fractional order differential and taking into account the creep damage evolution rules, a fractional nonlinear creep-damage model is proposed to reflect the instantaneous deformation in loading processes and the accelerat...

Evolving model evolution

Automated theorem proving is a method to establish or disprove logical theorems. While these can be theorems in the classical mathematical sense, we are more concerned with logical encodings of properties of algorithms, hardware and software. Especially in the area of hardware verification, propositional logic is used widely in industry. Satisfiability Module Theories (SMT) is a set of logics w...

Multi-objective Differential Evolution for the Flow shop Scheduling Problem with a Modified Learning Effect

This paper proposes an effective multi-objective differential evolution algorithm (MDES) to solve a permutation flow shop scheduling problem (PFSSP) with modified Dejong's learning effect. The proposed algorithm combines the basic differential evolution (DE) with local search and borrows the selection operator from NSGA-II to improve the general performance.  First the problem is encoded with a...

Fractional Probability Measure and Its Properties

Based on recent studies by Guy Jumarie [1] which defines probability density of fractional order and fractional moments by using fractional calculus (fractional derivatives and fractional integration), this study expands the concept of probability density of fractional order by defining the fractional probability measure, which leads to a fractional probability theory parallel to the classical ...

Effects of Different Approaches to Use of Non-Renewable (Oil) Resource’s Revenues on Iran’s Economic Growth

In this paper, we use the insights of the Real Business Cycles School, to calculate effects of different approaches to allocation of non-renewable (oil) resources’ revenues on Iran’s economic growth. We compare three different approaches, namely allocating the total revenue to the government, allocating some part of the revenue to the government and the rest to investing and allocating the reve...
